Book Review: Rest Assured: A Recovery Plan for Weary Souls, by Vicki Courtney

Hello again, savvy savers! Today finds us with a new book review, and this time its Rest Assured: A Recovery Plan for Weary Soulsby Vicki Courtney.

If you are anything like me, than you may currently be in one of the busiest seasons of your personal and professional life. A time when the business of our everyday experiences can quickly overtake even our best made plans and ambitions.  So, when I received the opportunity to read Vicki Courtney’s new book Rest Assured: A Recovery Plan for Weary Souls, I was sure that I would find some good advice for me in the book, to be help me not only be thankful in my current season, but to help me prep for my year to come.

In this book, the author diligently illustrates how people can become overly stressed, over-connected, over-burdened, and overwhelmed.  People may not realize that their family life has taken a back seat to the white noise-the busyness that masquerades itself as accomplished, while leaving you as a person unfulfilled and burnt out.

As for the book itself, the text and layout is divided into two parts.  The first, a four chapter discussion of how things become so cluttered, the idea that business can be sinful, and the last section of the book rests upon the premise that we should each have a week long challenge plan and at the end of the book there is a 30 day restoration plan.

Overall, this is a lovely book, and one that I’m going to keep on my shelf as a personal reference for my 2016 year.
