Since my kids were little, we’ve had bedtime story time. As they have gotten older, it’s been few and far between, but I like to think they have developed their own bedtime routine by reading on their own without Momma. I do, however, have a second grader who still loves to be read to and you can BELIEVE I will eat up every second of it. We’ve been reading Bible Stories from his Children’s Bible and prayers from Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers. It’s just one way I’m trying to instill the love of prayer for my kids.
Today, I’m introducing you guys to a new book by Diane Stortz called Words to Dream On.
About the book:
Young children thrive on routine and rituals, and a Bible story at bedtime is one of the best routines to establish! A combination Bible storybook and book of prayers, Words to Dream On is the perfect bedtime storybook for young children, with a “once upon a time” voice that is also true to God’s Word. Over 50 stories—from the Old and New Testaments—create an overview of the entire story arc of the Bible. Stories are selected and retold for young children with a focus on God’s love, care, protection, trustworthiness, and power.
Each story includes:
1. An engaging title
2. A Bedtime Blessing (a short summary thought)
3. Words to Dream On (a brief Bible verse)
4. A Sleepy-Time Prayer (a good-night prayer tied to the theme of the story)
